Where do I start? I am exhausted, excited, thrilled, joyful, sad (because our time is now half over) rejoicing at what God is doing!! The deaf here are asking awesome questions! We studied in the Old Testament this morning and this afternoon was all questions they wanted to ask about the Bible. Everything from “Who made us Deaf to Marriage; murder and go to Heaven; where is God from; to …. Most of these topics we guided through the Deaf Catechism to see the answers. I hope you can see the pictures with the room full of the Deaf students. (Yes, Bud Palmer, they did ask if it was ok to drink beer and smoke :) The morning section also included discussions about being Disciples – Barnabas, Paul, and Timothy training and what that means. Showing God’s plan for training and leading others to make more disciples. We stated the discussion on their plans for ministry. Talking about the needs, where they are teaching, and where they see the next areas. We have people from many areas around Liberia. It will be exciting to see where and how they see God leading them. We start out at 6:30 each morning and finish about 8 pm. The Deaf have been waiting there and ready to get started on our time together. During the meal times has been great to learn about their lives; food, families, and their plans for the future. I am also learning more of the Liberian signs, some same as America, but many are different. Please pray for us as we begin the discussion about the next trip. They are already looking at Deaf place and expanding the training. They also want us to have time to see the Deaf schools. We will see where God leads the discussion and what are their ideas. Personal notes: Very Hot and sweaty today! Only one place to get short Wi-Fi signal – Thank You Jesus for that access! Electricity has been steady at night too. Shower sprays down, but also out the pipes on the side – that means over the top, not on me. Not many lizards around. 3 crocodiles at the church compound. Thank God I do love the rice, rice, rice for meals! And thanking God for the time with Pastor Scott, Pastor David, and their wives (Lori and Ruth)!! Thanking God we are together! Thank you for all your prayers!! | |
